Museum of Discovery
The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is a one-of-a-kind museum in that it is interactive, engaging visitors through hands-on ways to learn and historical storytelling. Their unique approach to learning is appealing to kids and all with a curious kid-at-heart spirit too. One of their most popular permanent exhibits is their Music and Sound lab, where people of all ages can learn how to play bass, be a DJ, or lay down a beat on the drums. Their upcoming exhibits include Skin: Living Armor, Evolving Identity and Bias Inside Us.
Museum of Art
The Fort Collins Museum of Art, which exhibits large, touring art shows, includes many contemporary artists and is housed in the beautiful historic Post Office. Their current exhibition, Contemporary Art of the West, will be showing until September 15th. Don't miss their annual mask exhibit next year.
Global Village Museum of Arts and Culture
The Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures showcases international folk art. Their primary goal is to host exhibits that engage and inspire visitors to learn about world cultures, art, and history to increase world understanding. Their current exhibit, One World, One Family, will be available until September 21.
1879 Avery House
A can't miss historic structure in the heart of Old Town is the Avery House, which was built in 1879 by Franklin Avery who is responsible for the design of our wide streets around Fort Collins and he was also the founder of our local First National Bank and other important projects that allowed Northern Colorado to thrive. The house is listed in the National Register of Historic Places is available to tour and has rotating special exhibits.
1883 Water Works
1883 Water Works is Fort Collins' first ever public works project. This property is located at the foothills immediately west of Fort Collins where the historic Overland Trail runs right through the middle of the 23-plus acre site. Water Works is open until October.
Totally 80's Pizza
Pizza and a museum?! Check out Totally 80's for 80's pop culture artifacts including rare vintage arcade games, cereal boxes, autographed photos, computers, and original hand written lyrics. It's the world's only 1980's Museum and Restaurant!
Blue Moose Art Gallery
Blue Moose isn't your typical art gallery; they like to have fun! It's an organization that represents 80+ professional Colorado artists featuring a wide variety of original fine art and gifts. With over 3,400 items that are all for sale, you'll definitely find something that suits you. If you enjoy what you see, take one of their art classes to learn how to do it yourself!
Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising
Colorado State University's Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising features changing exhibits of historic apparel, fashion, and global textiles with three galleries in the University Center for the Arts. Their collection of 20,000 historically and culturally significant artifacts tell global stories of people and their textiles, dress, and interior furnishings. Their current exhibition of Korean embroidery will be up until the middle of December. Did we mention it's free?!
Gregory Allicar Museum of Art
Colorado State's Gregory Allicar University Museum of Art offers a growing and diverse art collection and expanded facilities. Always free and open to all, the museum invites visitors to revel in direct engagement with outstanding examples of visual art. A well-balanced docket of permanent and rotating exhibits ensures a fresh experience each time someone walks through the doors!
