When you apply for a permit, you’re helping the Natural Areas Department keep track of activities in natural areas. This helps us manage environmental impacts, improve safety and prevent conflicts between visitors.
We review each permit application based on how it might affect nature, wildlife, cultural or agricultural resources, and the experience of other visitors. Commercial, Special Use, and Right of Way permit applications are reviewed within 15 business days. Research permit applications are reviewed biannually. Once your permit is approved or denied, you'll get a confirmation email.
