Mothers love to peruse and go shopping, especially at cute markets with local vendors! There are a number of markets and boutiques around town to cure the shopping itch. The venue-changing Handmade Market, which features several local artisans, will be at Salt Road Brewing on Saturday, May 10th from 12-5 p.m and then at Breckenridge Brewing on Sunday, May 11th from 12-5 p.m. If you take a scenic drive up the Poudre Canyon along the Cache la Poudre River on Sunday, Riverside Colorado is hosting a Mother's Day Open House with vendors, creative workshops, games, and more from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. And, just down the road at Mishawaka Amphitheatre is the start of their free Sunday Summer Series concerts!
2. Relax & Pamper
If mom wants to hit the reset button, there is a free Meditation Class hosted by A Heart Awakened on Saturday from 3-4:30 p.m. Another Saturday morning option from 9-9:55 a.m. is Community Yoga at The Movement Apothecary. Meanwhile in downtown Fort Collins, you can add some furry fun to the mix with Old Town Baby Goat Yoga with three available times on Saturday, 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Want to try something even more different and special? How about taking a visit to the Rocky Mountain Gong Journeys who are hosting a special Mother's Day Gong Journey from 10-11:30 a.m on Sunday. Lastly, the Drala Mountain Center & The Great Stupa has a three-day retreat for Silent Meditation Intensive: The Cradle of Loving-Kindness if mom really wants to reset in a mountain setting!
3. Explore & Learn
To experience a kick of dopamine, learn something new, and gain some inspiration, a visit to Fort Collins' museums and niche organizations might be the ticket! The Global Village Museum of the Arts and Cultures is waving admission fees for moms! The Global Village Museum has four galleries, two rotating and two permanent. Over at the Museum of Art, the 21st Annual Masks Fundraiser and Exhibition is underway. On the Colorado State University campus at the Morgan Library, an immersive exhibition, Reframe: Augmented Reality by Amplifier, bridges the worlds of art, technology, and social change. The Rocky Mountain Raptor Program is hosting a spring open house to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day and kick off Baby Season! Yes, you can see some fluff balls and fierce birds! Did you know that in 2022, Fort Collins was designated a Colorado Bird City with a "High Flyer" status by Environment for Americas due to the City of Fort Collins' commitment to bird conservation.
4. Get Outdoors and Have a Picnic
There are a number of spots in Fort Collins to have one of the most scenic picnics you’ve ever experienced. City Park happens to be one of those spots. You can find ducks and Canadian Geese swimming in the oversized pond in City Park, along with multiple families and friends groups participating in fun lawn activities ranging from soccer to frisbee. If you’re in the mood for a hike, head out to Horsetooth Mountain Open Space and pick a trail. All of them provide beautiful settings for a picnic, including Horsetooth Falls and Arthur’s Rock just to name a few. If you don’t want to make your lunch, we suggest stopping by one of our many great sandwich shops like Yampa Sandwiches or Fiona's to name a couple. Just make sure you pack out all your trash when you leave! Want to be active before the picnic? At Lory State Park, there will be a guided Mother's Day Hike at the Well Gulch Trail!
5. See a Show or Movie
Entertainment can also be found with your feet kick up at one of Fort Collins' various theatres. The Lincoln Center has Friday and Saturday shows of Anne of Green Gables presented by the Debut Theatre Company. Another CSU campus event worth a look is the School of Arts' Spring Dance Capstone Concert: Ellipsis, which has two shows on Friday and Saturday evening. How about something magical!? The 2025 Ice Extravaganza: Imagination! Ice Show features over 100 figure skaters performing to music inspired by Disney favorites. Organized by the Fort Collins Figure Skating Club, there are two shows, 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., on Saturday at the Edora Pool and Ice Center (EPIC). If the weather calls for it, don't forget about the Holiday Twin Drive-in and how Fort Collins is one of the few towns in Colorado that still offers the drive-in movie experience! Regardless of the event you choose, grab a drink, some popcorn, your loved ones, and kick back!
6. BRUNCH!
There’s no better way to kick off or end a weekend in Fort Collins than brunch with friends or family. Several places around town are putting out some special menus for mom's day! Inside the Armstrong Hotel, Ace Café's Weekend Brunch occurs on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Just down the road, Sonny Lubick's Steakhouse has a custom Mother's Day Brunch. On the other side of Old Town, The Emporium Mother's Day Brunch inside of The Elizabeth Hotel is set for Sunday from 9 a.m-3 p.m. The Hilton Garden Inn is accustomed to holiday brunch and Mother's Day Brunch is no exception. If you want to learn and eat, Ginger and Baker is has a special menu and is hosting a Mother's Day High Tea Class in their Teaching Kitchen from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sunday. FoCo Cafe, first nonprofit restaurant in Fort Collins, has three slots for their Annual Mother's Day Brunch, featuring mocktails, flowers and more!
