At the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, you’ll find traveling exhibits from venues like the Smithsonian as well as fixed exhibits that cover everything from local Indigenous history and the animal kingdom to agriculture that has shaped northern Colorado, nature, culture, science, and even music. The best part is that many exhibits are hands-on, encouraging discovery through play. After learning about the science of sound, children can try out instruments for themselves at the Music & Sound Lab or experiment with scientific concepts in the Schatz Family Exploration Zone. The Tot Spot, ideal for toddlers, offers activities like a train table and a giant “tree” little ones can crawl through.

The Dome Theater 

This museum acts as a discovery center for Fort Collins, partly thanks to the OtterBox Digital Dome Theater, the only of its kind in Northern Colorado. Instead of a movie screen, the theater has a 360-degree overhead dome, plunging viewers directly into the action. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped foot in another realm as you watch kids' movies, science documentaries, concert videos, and other films or live events. 

Summer Camps and Educational Programs 

At the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, learning continues over the summer with an educational camp for kids. The camp, which takes place over five different weeks, offers full access to the museum, giving children an opportunity to discover new facts about wildlife, history, technology, and other subjects while taking part in fun activities. Throughout the year, the museum hosts additional community events and educational programs for people of all ages. That includes special presentations, opportunities to interact with wildlife, and other attractions.
