First Annual Collins Week

Cheers to the first annual Collins Week. Join Old Elk Distillery and Social Fort Collins in commemorating the 50^th year anniversary of the repeal of prohibition in Fort Collins. You can expect seven days in August to be filled with craft cocktails and charitable giving. All in celebration of history and community. See map for participating locations.

August 5th - 11th you will find some of your favorite Northern Colorado bars and eateries creating their own rendition of a classic Tom Collins cocktail. What is a Tom Collins? Well, this American classic is made up of gin, lemon juice, sugar, and soda water. Each Collins cocktail served during Collins week will vary depending on your location. The Reserve Tasting Room by Old Elk Distillery, Social and select locations will be mixing with a limited release of Dry Town Mellow Rested Gin. Founded in freedom and finished in whiskey barrels, this 10 botanical gin prevails over traditional gin and will set any cocktail apart.

HISTORY OF COLLINS WEEK

Fort Collins was a dry town from 1896 - 1969, and good citizens, who made honest livings, were forced to rely on bootleggers for their libations. This city was surely paved by adventurous settlers with an outlaw spirit. On August 8th, 1969, 73 years later, the first legal liquor license was awarded to the owner of, The Top Restaurant. Coincidentally, this legal exchange took place 50 years ago, in the current offices of Old Elk Distillery.

Not only is Collins Week a celebration of the historical event that officially ended prohibition, but also, celebrating the rich history of our city. The Social Fort Collins, along with Old Elk Distillery, invite you to join in the inaugural celebration of Collins Week. Let’s raise a toast, cheers to history. Cheers to the community. Alongside other participating locations, The Reserve by Old Elk Distillery will be mixing seven variations of the classic Tom Collins cocktails in seven days. Be sure to vote for your favorite at @thereservebyoldelk.

WHY:

Select locations will be donating to the Food Bank for Larimer County throughout the seven days that make up Collins Week. For example, The Reserve by Old Elk Distillery will be donating a $1.00 from every Collins cocktail purchased to help fund future meal projects. Be a part of the excitement and join Old Elk Distillery, Social Fort Collins and other participating locations in celebrating history, community, and philanthropy.

At the end of those seven days, the amount raised collectively, will be donated to the Food Bank for Larimer County as a community.
