The 8th ACT Human Rights Film Festival opens with a celebratory reception on Wednesday, March 29, starting at 5 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Theatre lobby. The reception will feature heavy appetizers and the eighth annual signature festival beer from Odell Brewing, ACT Screening Session Ale. This year’s opening night film SUBJECT will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Theatre. Reception admittance is included with a film ticket to SUBJECT.
Hailed as must-see for anyone who enjoys documentaries or non-fiction media, SUBJECT explores the life-altering experience of sharing one’s life on screen through the participants of five acclaimed documentaries. As tens of millions of people watch documentaries in an unprecedented “golden era,” Subject urges audiences to consider the ethics in storytelling and the impact on documentary participants — the good, the bad and the complicated.
Film participant Susanne Reisenbichler (THE WOLFPACK, 2015 and SUBJECT) and Impact and Outreach Producer Stephanie Sunata will join for a post-film Q&A.
