Herb of the Month Club: August - Frankincense EO

We’re mixing it up for August and doing this month’s ‘herb’ on Frankincense Essential Oil.

Frankincense resin has been used medicinally and ceremonially for centuries. In recent years, the essential oil has become a favorite for everything from skincare to cancer.

This month’s herb club will be led by our staff aromatherapist Leesa Balik as she covers the ins and outs of frankincense essential oil.

Each month’s club is designed to spark your interest in learning more about herbs in an in-depth way; by helping you focus on one plant at a time you’ll get to know that one herb well enough to feel confident using it regularly.

~When you join you will get: a bag of the loose herb for tea and other topical preparations, a bottle of the tincture, and if available a bottle of the essential oil or flower essence of the plant
~You will be provided with an outline of information to gather regarding the plant so you have a place to start your research
~Anyone interested in joining the club for the month can sign up at any point in time during the month
~Then it'll be up to you to research, and most importantly, experiment! Taste the plant, put it on topically, take a bath with it, read about it, and write down your experiences and impressions
~At the end of the month, when we host our Club Meeting, you will come together with all the other participants to talk about what you learned about the plant
~Each meeting will be facilitated by one of our staff members who will be there to guide the discussion, answer questions, and give additional information about the plant
~For those who don’t live in near us and can’t take part in the in-person group you can still join! We’ll mail you the materials and you’ll still get all of the information from the teacher at the end of the month

By the end of each month and meeting, you will be much more familiar and comfortable with the plant of the month, you will know when to use it and why, giving you the confidence to start working with it on a regular basis.
