Old Firehouse Books is partnering with The Art Mart Fort Collins (https://www.instagram.com/theartmartfoco/) for a collaboration between visual artists and writers in Northern Colorado.
In this partnership, a local visual artist and a local writer will be paired together to create complementary pieces with shared themes and motifs. Creatives from varying levels of experience are welcome to apply-- from emerging voices to established experts.
The work produced by the partnerships will be exhibited in a show at Old Firehouse Books on Friday, October 20th, 2023.
The application can be found at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeb18AVuS9tXEfc2itDgwaLu37IEwgmfrDpKD8PMtSZPTKdcA/viewform
*** This collaborative work will take place over several months. Please only apply if you feel confident that you will have the time to commit to this project. ***
Written work must be under 4,000 words but may be in any format -- such as poetry, short stories, essays, etc. A physical copy must be displayed at the event. Written pieces (or excerpts, for long-form works) will also be read aloud at the event.
2D or 3D visual art may be accepted. Artists may plan on displaying their art on their own table, easel, hanging rack, or other set-up they choose. Old Firehouse Books does not have wall hanging available.
The Art Mart is run by a sole event organizer. Curation is at the discretion of the event organizer.
Due to the collaborative element of this exhibition, we can only accommodate an equal amount of visual artists and writers. Some applications will have to be denied if there are unequal amounts of applications. Applicants will be notified if they are accepted into a show but may not receive notification if they are not selected.
Thank you for your application.
