Fiberart International 2022 showcases contemporary artworks that explore innovative uses of fiber materials and processes. The juror-selected exhibition, by design, embodies a global perspective and embraces the immense plurality of contemporary art through the accessible and familiar medium of fiber. The work included was chosen by four world-renowned jurors from nearly 1,300 submissions by 545 artists residing in 30 countries. These select works explore unexpected relationships between fiber and other creative disciplines through installations, videos, sculpture, and more.
Since 1967, Fiberart International has consistently encouraged the changing definition of contemporary textile art and it is recognized world-wide as a benchmark, documenting trends and innovations in the field. Integral to this long running series of exhibitions is a global view that explores the traditions and intersections of artists and cultures. This platform gives audience to a diverse group of artists whose work has historically been under-represented by larger art institutions.
