Discovery After Dark: Once Upon a Playground

    • In conjunction with Once Upon a Playground special traveling exhibition, which offers a visual tribute to the vanishing playgrounds of our past and celebrates their place in American culture and the collective memories of generations, join us for this artist lecture with exhibit photographer Brenda Biondo.

      Brenda will discuss how the project came about and how she embarked on a years-long search for classic playgrounds across the country. She’ll also share on the surprising history of playgrounds and how she utilized vintage catalogs and materials to illustrate the evolution of these icons of American childhood. Once Upon a Playground exhibition will also be included in the ticket price.

      About the Artist

      Brenda Biondo is a Colorado photographer whose work has been exhibited in shows throughout the country and published in numerous print and online publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and The Denver Post. Her photographs are held in numerous private and public collections, including those of the Library of Congress, the Museum of Photographic Arts and the San Diego Museum of Art. Her book of photographs, Once Upon a Playground, was published by the University Press of New England in 2014.
