Celestial Bodies
Tuesday, November 29, 7:30 p.m., Griffin Concert Hall
The department’s own Dr. James David, has written a work for Maestro Kenney’s twentieth and final season at CSU, which will be premiered at this concert. The orchestra will also perform Gustav Holst’s gargantuan programmatic symphony, The Planets. Holst’s orchestral suite represents seven planets as Pluto was not yet discovered at the time. The addition of Colin Matthews’ “Pluto” movement completes the planetary cycle.
