Celebrate Ada Lovelace Day!

    • Old Firehouse Books is celebrating Ada Lovelace Day with author Nancy Castaldo! We invite readers young and old to learn about the amazing life of the first ever computer programmer at our event on Monday, October 7th at 6:00pm. We will be celebrating Ada Lovelace Day with the release of Nancy’s new book, DK Life Stores: Ada Lovelace. Attendees will also hear from Kristen Draper, the Digital Literacy Librarian at Poudre River Public Library, about the various kids coding clubs they host.

The DK Life Stories series aims to go beyond the basic facts to tell the true life stories of history’s most interesting people. Ada Lovelace tells the inspiring story of the world’s first computer programmer and her fascinating life. Her famous father (celebrated poet Lord Byron), her talent for languages and mathematics, and her predictions for how computers could change our lives are just a few of the topics touched upon in the book. Full-color photos and hand-drawn illustrations appear throughout to create an engaging book children will enjoy reading.

We hope you’ll join us for this free event!
