1883 Fort Collins Water Works Open House

    • This is where it all started! The need for a pressurized water system was brought back into the public's eye with a major fire in Old Town on September 15, 1882. It was quickly evident that the bucket brigade would not be able to save the building. The election held on September 20, 1882 passed the bond to build the Water Works. Construction occurred through the winter of 1882-83, and pressurized water was available at multiple hydrants by June 1883.
