Masonville-Glen Haven- Estes Park

Get in a few warm up climbs on your way to Masonville before heading to Estes Park via Glen Haven. A little dirt cut through spits you out at the Dam Store before you start your big climb of the day up Thompson Canyon. At the fork in Drake, head right for an extra quiet climb to a beautiful overlook into Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. The descent back down the canyon is that perfect gradient where you can still pedal a lot and feel super fast.

The Stats:

  • Distance: 89 miles

  • Climbing: 5700 feet

  • Category: Solid

Notes: Big Thompson Canyon has a huge shoulder up the entire thing, but does have a lot of summer tourism…try it on a weekday to have it more to yourself. The section from Drake to the top does not always have a shoulder but is very low traffic, even in summer.

Refills: Refill options include Masonville Mercantile, The Dam Store, and Horsetooth Mountain Park. Want a coffee break in Estes Park? Kind Coffee is where it’s at.

Tires: We like the WTB Exposure as a tubeless option.
