The Cache la Poudre River flows through Colorado’s history, linking its people, history, and arteries of commerce. More than 634,000 Coloradoans living in Larimer and Weld Counties depend on the Cache la Poudre River, and the stakes for the Poudre River’s health are high. The Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area (CALA) is under threat from increasing demands on water, shrinking federal appropriations, a lack of awareness about water management, unpredictable droughts, fires and floods, rising human health and safety concerns, and a generation more connected to their technology than to the natural world.
It is toward this end – raising awareness about the threats facing CALA – that the Poudre Heritage Alliance (PHA) and BreWater have teamed up to highlight these types of water issues through a series of public events – the Poudre Pour and Pub Talks. Because what do craft brewers and CALA have in common? Good water!
BreWater and the Poudre Heritage Alliance are partnering to host the POUDRE POUR to highlight craft brews and the major ingredient that makes the stouts, lagers and ales so tasty…WATER from the Poudre River!
This event on Saturday, March 31, 2018, Noon – 4:00 pm is not your typical brewfest! The POUDRE POUR includes an afternoon of FUN and LEARNING with 11 craft beer tasting stations from brewers such as New Belgium, Horse & Dragon, Intersect and Soul Squared; appetizers such as pretzels with beer-cheese dip; special presentations such as the trailer premier of “The Power of Place” movie and a panel speaking about "A River of Many Uses"; kid activities such as t-shirt printing; live entertainment from Beth’s Studio; art exhibitions from local photographers and Windsor Charter Academy; and a silent auction featuring trips, treats, tickets and more!
Proceeds will benefit the Poudre Heritage Alliance, working to PROMOTE a variety of historical and cultural opportunities, ENGAGE people in their river corridor and INSPIRE learning, preservation, and stewardship.
The indoor/outdoor POUDRE POUR will be hosted at the Carnegie Center for Creativity and Heritage Courtyard at 200 Mathews St, Fort Collins, 80524. The venue reflects the region’s cultural heritage and ties directly to the event theme.
