Fort Collins has always been known as an environmentally friendly city, focusing on a number of 'Green' initiatives. That's what makes Earth Day in Fort Collins such a special day every year. It gives the city a chance to celebrate support for protection of the environment. It also allows the Fort Collins community a chance to bring attention to a large number of issues that are affecting our planet today. Here are a number of ways you can celebrate Earth Day in Fort Collins. 

 

 

Earth Day Fort Collins Festival

Celebrate Earth in Day Fort Collins in Old Town this year in a festival atmosphere! The Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association presents this great event taking place in Civic Center Park, 201 LaPorte Ave., with music, booths, family activities, speakers, food and a beer garden. Admission is free with a non-perishable food item donation for the Larimer County Food Bank.

Earth Day Fort Collins will have a combination of activities and events for the entire family. Earth Day encourages and inspires community members to honor the Earth every day and make efforts toward conservation and preservation of our wondrous planet for current and future generations.

Amazing Day Planet Earth at the Museum of Discovery

Earth to all Earthlings! We all share this planet, but what does that mean? With interactive stations around the gallery at Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, you can learn about Earth, what makes it unique, and how we can protect it. Celebrate our planet, and make a world of difference! Amazing Day: Planet Earth is included with admission.

CSU Earth Week

How big of a deal is sustainability at Colorado State University? It’s so big that CSU needs more than a whole week to celebrate Earth Day! Earth Week gives CSU a chance to highlight how much it does every year in terms of sustainability. Be sure to check out CSU’s State of Sustainability webpage, which showcases what makes CSU such a green institution.

Clothes Mending Café

Stop by the Clothes Mending Café at the Fort Collins Earth Day festival and bring in articles of clothing to get them mended for free. This is you chance to grab that favorite sweater or pair of jeans that’s been hiding in the back of your closet since it got a tear months ago. The booth will also host demos throughout the day on how to fix a tear & sew a button back on throughout the day. Mending clothing is a great way to save money and help the planet!

Earth Day Electric Vehicle Ride & Drive

Take a brand new electric vehicle for a spin around Fort Collins to celebrate Earth Day at the Fort Collins Earth Day festival.

William Oliver’s  & Johnnie Walker Earth Day Celebration

William Oliver's & Johnnie Walker want to plant 200 trees this earth day. All proceeds from any Johnnie Walker cocktail sold at William Oliver's on April 21st will go toward planting 200 trees in the National Forest. At 4:30pm, Johnnie Walker will be at the pub to celebrate. They will also provide a cocktail for the first 40 people to RSVP via EventBrite. More details available at WilliamOlivers.com/events.

Flowers for Towers

In observance of Earth Day, iPoint (Information Point Technologies), a community–minded local network, web design and digital marketing company, is continuing its tradition of making it safe, easy and free for local residents and businesses to properly recycle computer equipment. Along with I.T. Refresh and the Fort Collins Nursery, the fifth annual “Flowers for Towers” recycling event will take place on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. There are no recycling fees. Items can be dropped off at iPoint’s office located at 135 West Swallow, Bldg. A, in Fort Collins. Recyclable items include: PC towers, laptops, servers, copiers and scanners. (Computer monitors and printers are excluded.)

In addition to the savings, participants will get a chance to win prizes from event sponsors and receive a $5 Fort Collins Nursery gift certificate to go toward planting their flowers. (One gift certificate per participant.)
