Harbinger Coffee will most undoubtedly change the way you think about coffee. In this week's Fort Collins Community Connections we spoke with Jonathan Jarrow, who is co-owner of Harbinger Coffee along with Ben Kutcher. Harbinger Coffee is a unique coffee business that aims to prove coffee can be a life change changing experience. Jarrow's coffee shop is dedicated to enhancing the coffee experience while showcasing some of the most exemplary coffees around the world.
What is the story behind how you started Harbinger Coffee?
I started Harbinger Coffee in 2011 when I moved home from Chicago. In 2012, I started a little coffee kiosk in old town serving brewed coffee prepared by the cup, and retailing unique bags of coffee. We moved to our current location in 2015, and have enjoyed being able to better serve our patrons with an expanded menu. Our second location and roastery will be opening in the spring of 2017 on the south side of Fort Collins at the intersection of Harmony and Lady Moon.
What makes Harbinger Coffee unique?
Harbinger Coffee is unique in the fact that we offer outstanding coffees from around the globe, served with an eye toward full-service hospitality.
What do you love about Fort Collins?
I love the beautiful weather, unpretentious feel, and commitment by both businesses and patrons for local and quality goods.
What are some of your favorite things to do in Fort Collins?
I enjoy all the hiking options nearby (Arthur's Rock, GreyRock, Horsetooth), as well as the great nightlife (Social, Elliot's, Surfside).
Tell us about yourself...
I have worked in the coffee industry for over 13 years as a barista, trainer, manager and roaster. I was born in MD, but I grew up here in Northern Colorado, and love to be able to own a business in a town that I call home.
