Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest is a free, three-day music festival held each August in historic downtown Fort Collins. The 2016 festival takes place Aug. 12, 13 and 14. This year it was announced that an all-Colorado lineup of 80-plus bands are slated to perform during the 2016 Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest , with three renowned Colorado headliners to anchor the main stage performances each night. The festival is completely FREE all weekend and will be headlined by Grammy-nominated orchestral indie band DeVotchKa, known for their acclaimed film score for “Little Miss Sunshine” and alternative rock band the Fray, known for several hit singles including “Over My Head (Cable Car)” and “How to Save a Life,” while Sunday’s headliner, also a Colorado band, will be announced in early August.
For the widest array of classical music and dance options, visit Fort Collins between September and May. This is when the ballet, symphony, opera, chamber players, and chorale present their seasons. Additionally, the CSU Music, Theatre and Dance department stages recitals, plays, and concerts. During the summer, you can find live music at street festivals, outdoor concert series, and at local nightclubs and smaller venues. The eighth annual FoCoMX (Fort Collins Music eXperiment) will take place April 22 and 23, 2016. FoCoMX is presented by FoCoMA (Fort Collins Musicians Association) and sponsored by Odell Brewing Co., this unique live music festival will showcase 250+ Northern Colorado bands and solo musicians at 20-plus Downtown Fort Collins venues. Summer Concert Series
Live outdoor music is one of the greatest past times here. Enjoy all genres of live outdoor music, five days of the week, all summer long at our many FREE concerts happening all over town.
This unique weekly concert gives visitors and locals a chance to enjoy live music in the middle of the day. Come on down to Oak St. Plaza on any Tuesday and enjoy live jams over lunch. Bring the kids and let them play in the sidewalk fountains while you relax to the sound of fresh tunes.
Bohemian Nights is all about sharing the gift of Colorado’s live music scene with the Northern Colorado community! This summer concert series is held every Thursday night and brings talent from all over the state. Enjoy this concert series as a lead-up to Bohemian Nights’ New West Fest, a free weekend-long music festival featuring nationally-known artists on August 12th, 13th and 14th.
Downtown Summer Sessions combines Colorado craft beers with live music. Take part in this weekly Friday Night celebration in Old Town Fort Collins while sipping local craft beer paired perfectly with local performances. This free, family-friendly music event is the perfect way to spend a Friday evening in town.
This fun and free Wednesday night concert series is an ideal activity for the entire family. Pack your blanket and lawn chair and come on down to the beautiful Colorado State University Lagoon for live music. This 19-year-old concert series is dedicated to providing a venue for local bands and the community to come together to present a unique event not found anywhere else in town.
Between CSU’s world-class performing arts center, acting troupes, traveling Broadway shows, venues devoted to musical theatre (with and without dinner), children’s theaters companies, and summer performances under the stars, it’s no wonder Fort Collins boasts more opportunities to see live theater than anywhere else in Northern Colorado.
Fort Collins richly deserves its reputation as the cultural capital of Northern Colorado. With a half-dozen live theater stages in production throughout the year, a symphony orchestra, ballet and opera companies as well as several choral ensembles, Fort Collins exhibits hundreds of live theater and performance art shows each year. Although production seasons vary, shows take place predominately September through April. Fort Collins theatrical facilities accommodate a wide range of performances from national touring shows, more intimate settings, state of the art performance halls and music halls with state-of-the-art acoustics. Some companies are known for offering comedy, musical theater, dance, more challenging subject matter, a nationally renown Beckett Theatre, as well as family-friendly material.
